Major Gifty N. Weefur

Officer in Charge (OIC) Fort Hamilton Medical Recruiting Station

Major Gifty Weefur received an Army Commission in the Medical Services Corps through the College Reserve Officer Training Corps from Fayetteville State University in 2009. MAJ Weefur holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and will complete her Masters of Healthcare Administration at George Washington University in June 2020.

MAJ Weefur enlisted in the Army as a Human Resource Specialist (42A), then later re-classed to a Chaplain Assistant (56M). She attended Basic Combat Training and Advance Individual Training at Fort Jackson, SC. During her six years enlisted, she gained a vast amount of knowledge by serving in various positions to include Promotions Clerk, awards clerk, team leader, Platoon Sergeant and Brigade Chaplain Assistant.

MAJ Weefur’s military education includes Human Resource Specialist Course, Chaplain Assistant Course, Basic Officer Leadership Course, Officer Basic Course and Captains Career Course. MAJ Weefur has served in a wide variety of positions to include: Clinic Executive Officer, Treatment Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer, Hospital Adjutant, Division Medical Operations Officer, Company Commander, and Hospital Chief of Human Resource.

Her previous assignments include: 327th Signal Battalion (ABN), Headquarters Company, Fort Bragg, NC; 501st Corps Support Group, Camp Stanley Korea; 519th Military Intelligence Battalion (ABN), Headquarters Company, Fort Bragg, NC; 20th Engineer Brigade (ABN), Headquarters Company, Fort Bragg, NC; 75th Area Support Medical Company, Camp Humphreys Korea; 82nd Brigade Support Battalion, Charlie Company, Fort Bragg, NC, Womack Army Medical Center, Fort Bragg, NC, Bravo Company, Fort Belvoir, VA, Headquarters Company, U.S. Element North, Walter Reed Medical Center, Headquarters Company, Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, TX. MAJ Weefur currently serves as the OIC of the Fort Hamilton Medical Recruiting Station, Brooklyn, NY.

MAJ Weefur’s awards and decorations include Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2OLC), Army Commendation Medal (2OLC), Army Achievement Medal (3OLC), Good Conduct Medal (2OLC), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon, NATO Ribbon, and Parachutist Badge.
