The Moves Forum by New York Moves Magazine brings together women leaders from a broad spectrum of business, industry and commerce, the arts, education and technology for our annual discussion on the various ways we can maximize potential and best influence and improve the current and future role of women; this goal has never been more relevant than today.

Topics of Discussion

  • storm-icon

    Real Storms

Warmer sea surface temperatures could intensify tropical storm wind speeds, potentially delivering more damage if they make landfall.

  • fire-icon

    Real Fires

Climate change has strong ties to high temperature, soil moisture, and the presence of trees, shrubs, and other potential fuel, which increases risk of wildfires.

  • flood-icon

    Real Floods

A growing number of communities—both coastal and inland—are finding themselves underwater. Extreme weather, sea level rise, and other climate change impacts are increasingly to blame.

  • ice-melt-glacier-icon

    Real Ice Melt

Since the Industrial Revolution, carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions have raised temperatures in the pole, resulting in glaciers rapidly melting.

  • drought-icon

    Real Drought

Warmer temperatures enhance evaporation, which reduces surface water and dries out soils and vegetation.

PAST FORUMS

HEAR FROM OUR PAST ATTENDEES

  • I wanted to thank you for the great event you hosted yesterday! I so enjoyed attending with April and the ECCEL students Dana, Marylan, and Joe, and GLW alumna Giselle The panel members were well spoken and interesting, and the topics very timely! I'm feel certain there were many positive takeaways for the forum's attendees!!

  • SUCH A WONDERFUL event! Thank you for inviting me! It was terrific with so many amazing speakers. I took notes! I really love what you do -- getting people together and opening up a place to share and learn. So important. You're exceptional!

  • What a magical afternoon. I had so much fun and thank you so much for including me.

  • What a lovely event that was! I just loved it.

  • My apologies for not reaching out to you sooner to congratulate you on an absolutely wonderful day celebrating mentors and women. I am in the midst of a crazy travel schedule with a conference and talks in Nashville and Charlotte. I believe all of these experiences have helped me reflect on how truly special your one-day event compares to what I am currently in the midst of.

I have had some time to give thought to what made your event so special to me. First, it was the best run event I have ever attended. The speakers were terrific (kudos for including a comedian!), the topics were relevant and the networking with other women leaders was genuine and impactful. I met several women who I have already had multiple exchanges with and I hope to continue too dialogue with. Many of the students inn attendance have reached out to me, which truly warms my heart.

Thank you for providing such a wonderful experience and for including me in this wonderful day. I am most grateful.

  • Thank you so very much for inviting Deb and me to the MOVES Mentor Luncheon. As usual, your team did an amazing job, with everything being beautifully and flawlessly executed. While each and every honoree was simply spectacular, Col Lynn Marm – and her sincerity and humility -- truly touched me. All of the honorees blew me away, but two others -- Tia Silas and Smita Pillai – also stood out for me, as did emerging superstar, Seychelle Hercules. And, wow, Taylor Schilling! She was the perfect closer with her deeply personal story about mentoring. Please let her know how inspiring she was, especially for those of us who have been around a bit longer and believed we already understood the tremendous impact that mentoring can have on the young women in our lives.

You should be so proud of what you did, yet again, to raise up and recognize women. We are grateful to you and the MOVES family for all you do to shine the spotlight on incredible female leaders. Thank you for continuing to lead the charge in this way. This event was good for our souls.

  • Thank you so much for having me! What an incredible and beautiful event; Smita and I enjoyed every part of it. I look forward to collaborating on future projects as well. Have a great week.

  • It was an excellent event! Christy was really happy to be a part of it.

Looking forward to seeing the images! I want to do a recap/wrap up for Corning’s social media channels and our website, so the image would be very helpful.

  • Moves Mentor event is a master stroke in bringing together inspirational speakers who exemplify professional and personal success through their intelligence, wit and experience. The audience of young women is just as engaging as the speakers! I always learn so much and leave feeling energized. I highly recommend this wonderful event!

  • I wanted to wish you a hearty congratulations for a wonderful event and a truly amazing day! It was such an honor an privilege to be included and very special in that room. I watched the audience’s faces light up when they were listening to the speakers and I shared their interests and curiosity to learn. Most importantly, what a privilege it was to be on that stage and get to witness the eyes lighting up and the sparks of change to come. There were ladies in the room who saw Jessica, Daymond, or Sarah and thought, “They are just like me.” Or, “That’s ME up there!” I could see it and it was very touching to see. A great feat, congrats to you and your team.

MOVES DIVERSITY AWARDS 2022

The ‘Moves Mentor’ award is in recognition of, and to specifically highlight, the role individual women leaders play in shaping and forming the next generation; the energy, experience and expertise used in mentoring today’s millennials into tomorrow’s executives.  Long identified as the most efficient and effective process to nurture and support the individual in realising their potential, data shows that one-on-one mentoring is a symbiotic relationship, advantageous to all parties in that it develops the inter-personal skills of the mentor as well as benefiting the parent organisation in maintaining a skilled, savvy and loyal workforce
